A thousand thanks for this, Debbie. It's a brilliant and on-target call to action that asks each of us to rise above MAGA madness and do whatever we can to get our democracy back on course. As I read the names of the spiritual-political leaders you rightly pointed to, I thought of the millions of small steps and small acts that took them down the paths they walked. When I was in NYC, I volunteered at the Catholic Worker's Mary House and saw Dorothy Day at work, patiently serving bread and soup to the poorest of the poor, taking them to service centers and standing in long lines with them so they could get much-needed support. None of us can change the world. But we can change what's within a few feet of where we stand, day in and day out, just as this list of social change luminaries did: every bit of it makes a difference!
